Best Music 3
All Killers No Fillers, feat. Libertines, The Gossip, Konradsen, Tycho, 100 gecs, Angry Blackmen, The Smile, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Fenne Lily and many more.
Once a month i post the best music i blogged at my other stack at GOOD MUSIC, all the best new tunes and fresh bands from the past month in one place.
This time we start with the first the musicvideo since forever from The Libertines, continue with the great J Mascis’ new single, and then we take it up a notch with M(h)aol from Dublin, continue the grunge streak with Death Lens and land at some cool hardcore-tune from Kaonashi. Then we take a break with one of my favorite chamber pop acts, Konradsen from Norway, who released their first single in three years, just for me for this years’ christmas, i swear. Thank you Konradsen.
Then The Gossip go crazy with their first single from their first album in 11 Years, newcomers Sprints take it from there and gglum play some great indie rock with distorted drums. Elephant Stone relax with a some sweet indie pop, and Elephant Stone open the art pop section, followed by experimental pop from Julia Holter, O.s saxophone stomp and crazy kate-bush-y stuff from Jess Joy. The Light Beams have some funk-driven indie rock and meija does shenanigans with Eels, Phantom Youth play a pretty danceable synth track, while Mahne Frame has a cool, toned-down-but-hyperpopish indie track and Not Me But Us take a break with some wobbling synths.
Then we go hardcore with two live tracks from Show Me The Body, a banger by Haywire, a two-song-promo for Combust, a new EP from No Turning Back and an effin’ great hardcore tape by Inflicter, followed by some women-shouted asskicking metalcore from Brat and Year Of The Knife. Then we go raving.
Kettama flys away with XTC and the considerably deranged 100 gecs remix Basement Jaxx, GRRL stomp ahead and Tycho takes it down again with his new track. Thy Slaughter synth away with some quite epic hyperpop, Boyish show some cute legs and Special Interest got a breakbeat-remix, followed up with some Drum’n’Bass by Machine Drum and some relaxed downbeats from Resavoir. The Alchemist takes over and opens the Hip Hop-drive, in which we hear some experimental tracks by Danny Brown and the Angry Blackmen, rounded out by BJ The Chicago Kid and his sweet soulful new single.
We return to Indie-Land with the new single from The Smile in which Tom Yorke is in the mood for some Radiohead again, it seems. Zinn feat. International Music and Car Colors go from here with some artpop, and Hak Baker has a very cool and angry, artrock thing going on.
Jonah Yano and the great Bonnie “Prince” Billy smooth it out and The Staves play a great indie pop song before we enter the final lap with two great upbeat live performances from Fenne Lily and Angie McMahon, and finally One True Pairing crosses the finishing line with the fan-tas-tic epic ballad Frozen Food Center.
All Killers No Fillers.
Enjoy!
